Overview of the GeoVirginia Website

Virginia geology is a major part of the Earth Science curriculum for Virginia schools yet many students have not traveled outside their immediate area to explore the different geologic features of our state. GeoVirginia, an interactive map database, has been created by Math Science Innovation Center with the help of teachers, to provide engaging virtual field trips that will allow students and teachers alike to learn the geology of their area and beyond without having to leave the classroom. Students may even create their own virtual field trips of Virginia geology and post to the Google-based map for others to explore. There are endless possibilities where the student can explore and discover the geology that has shaped our state.
